This year, do something really nice for mom on Mother's Day. Most ladies prefer going to restaurants where guests are served at the table. That means no greasy fast food or mega bar joints.  It also wouldn't hurt us to help around the house.  Where would we be without our mothers?

Armed Forces Day

  On August 31, 1949 then Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of Armed Forces Day. President Harry Truman also announced the holiday in a presidential proclamation on February 20, 1950. Flag Day

  Flag Day was first celebrated in 1877 to mark the 100th anniversary of the national symbol.  In 1885, Wisconsin school teacher B.J. Cigrand started a grassroots campaign that began with his students celebrating Flag Day. It ended with him promoting his idea to national newspapers and making public addresses on the matter.
